Lochee United recorded a 3-0 win at Blairgowrie today in the Thorntons Property League Cup. Despite creating many chances in the first half the sides went in 0-0 at halftime. Good goalkeeping by Sinclair in the home goal and poor finishing from Lochee. Second half was only two minutes old when Craig Smith scored after a good header by Kenneth was cleared off the line by a Blair defender leaving Smudger a tap in. Lochee kept pressing loking for the second goal to kill the game, however Blair stuck to the task and competed well despite it being one way traffic. Many chances came and went Lochee's way and nothing changed until McNally was sent off for two yellow cards. Lochee for the second week running are reduced to ten men. Not long after that a corner kick was met by Greg Kirk who gave keeper Sinclair no chance with his perfect header to put the Chee 2-0 up. With a few minutes remaining Grant Lawson was past his defender with only the keeper to beat when the legs were taken from him giving the referee the easy decsion to award the penatly which Dougie Cameron converted. A 3-0 win in what was a competitive match giving Lochee 6 points from our first two League cup games. Well done management and players.
