21st February 2019 Scottish Cup 1/4 Final At Troon

Lochee United are on the road this Saturday for our Macron Scottish Cup 1/4 final against Troon Juniors at Portland Park. Although we are no strangers to Scottish Cup ties in Ayrshire it is our first visit to Troon. The home side have had a good run in the cup this year starting with a home 5-1 win over Lochee Harp in the 2nd round back in September. They followed this up with another home win in the 3rd round against Nairn St Ninian in October winning 4-2. The 4th round saw them winning 3-1 away from home at Carnoustie Panmure in December and last month they squeezed past Cambuslang Rangers 1-0 away from home. They have some quality about their side with former Hearts player Ryan Stevenson in midfield who I saw scoring a peach of a goal at Carnoustie.Should Ryan play on Saturday this will be the third time he has played against us having played for Ayr United in both our Senior Scottish Cup ties. The first match at Lochee on the 17th December 2008 ended 1-1 with Ayr winning the replay 3-1. However this Saturday is another challenge for the club and we go into this game on the back of two good wins over the last two weeks. Our match fitness is good and we have a strong squad for the Gaffer to choose from. The game kicks off at 2.15pm
