Lochee United turned in a superb performance winning 3-0 away from home against league leaders Penicuik Athletic. Prior to today Penicuick had gone 10 games without defeat. Manager George Shields only had 13 players today with both centre backs out with injury. Greg Kirk and Craig Smith stepped into to fill those positions. An early goal on 4 mins from Grant Lawson gave the Chee a good start. This was soon added to when Lawson cut back for Paddy Deane to smash home on12 mins putting Lochee 2-0 ahead. Penicuik were struggling at this point with Lochee in command. Just on halftime keeper Jordan Millar on loan from Montrose FC pulled off a fantastic save to keep the home side out.
Second half saw Penicuik step up the pace but Lochee matched them with a well organised and marshalled defence. Just as it looked as though the home side were getting openings Lochee hit them on the break with a brilliant solo run from Grant Lawson who finished well to make it 3-0 to the visitors on 63 minutes. Seven minutes later substitute Logan Davie was clean through and slipped the ball past the keeper only to see it come off the post. Final score 3-0 to Lochee United. My man at the game reports that it was a fantastic team performance with Grant Lawson just shading it with his goals for Man of the Match. Well done management and players
