5th July 2020 Dougie Hangs Up The Boots

I took a call from Club Captain, Dougie Cameron during the week and he broke the bad news to me that he had decided to call time on his playing career. Having joined Lochee in the summer of 2016 he was George Shields first signing as our new manager. I must admit I thought Dougie was past his best then as a left back and said that to George. He said to me Dougie will not be playing left back and that surprised me even more.

However Douglas Cameron went on to play a key role during his time at the club as our centre midfield player and captain. He gave everything on and off the pitch for Lochee United. He led from the front and without a doubt has been a major influence in our success over his time at Lochee United. He was honoured in his first two seasons by winning our club Player of the Year, not bad for a player I thought was finished, shows you what I know.
Dougie, I know the dressing room will not be the same next season as you had the upmost respect from your team mates both young and old.
Thanks for what you gave our club over your time at Lochee United. You maybe retired but the memories will be there forever. Thanks for the Memories Dougie.
