Carnoustie Panmure v Lochee Utd 8th August 2017

Lochee United picked up their first three points of the new league season courtesy of a resounding win away to Carnoustie Panmure.

The first half was fairly evenly contested but the Bluebells turned up the heat in the second half and netted five without reply.

The Gowfers weren’t helped by the ordering off of forward Sam Simpson but the writing was on the wall before his dismissal.

The visitors had a chance to open the scoring in the 10th minute when Bryan Deasley played in Scot McComiskie, but the latter’s ball across the face of goal was too strong and failed to find a touch.

The home team’s best chance came 10 minutes later when former Dundee and Dundee United player Aaron Conway crashed a terrific shot off the face of Mark Stewart’s bar.

Conway was proving a handful with dangerous crosses into the Lochee box.

After Grant Lawson had burst up the wing only for Conor Birse to head the ball over the bar, Deasley then came close when his shot rebounded back off the post.
Deasley had another chance on 26 minutes when he beat the offside trap but knocked the ball wide of the target.

It was Carnoustie’s turn to beat the offside trap but Stewart was off his line quickly to clear the danger.

Lochee did have the ball in the net on 37 minutes when Birse slotted home a McComiskie pass but the linesman had his flag up for offside.

So, no goals at the break, but a booking for Carnoustie’s Sam Simpson in the early part of the second half was to come back to haunt them.

The Bluebells opened the scoring on 54 minutes. A McComiskie free kick deep into the Carnoustie box saw LAWSON appear to get a touch to steer the ball past Robbie, though Scot may also lay claim to the goal.

Greg Kirk had a chance soon after to increase the lead but was only able to knock Deasley’s pass wide of the post.

But they did double their lead on 67 minutes when DEASLEY got his head to a McComiskie cross.
The Gowfers’ task became virtually impossible 20 minutes from time when Simpson picked up his second yellow card, reducing his side to 10 men, and, six minutes later, they fell three behind.
DEASLEY was brought down by Robbie as he rounded the keeper and he made his usual fine job of placing the ball in the bottom corner.

The striker almost notched his hat trick minutes later but this time Robbie brought off a good save to deny him.

On 84 minutes Lochee made a double substitution, bring on Cammy McMahon and Jamie Montgomery for Kirk and Birse and what a substitution it proved to be!

With his first touch McMahon sent MONTGOMERY clear and, with his first touch, he slotted home number four.

And there was still time for Danny MILLAR to score against his old club, driving the ball home after Deasley’s effort had been blocked on the line.

That’s now two goals in two games for Danny so, as well as keeping them out at the back, he’s chipping in with goals at the other end.

However, my man of the match goes to Dougie Cameron who put in a power of work in the Lochee midfield.
