Lochee Legend Makes Another Impact

When Paul Scobie signed for the club earlier this year from Lochee Harp nobody knew the connection Paul’s family had with the club until he produced the photograph below. The picture features a young Paul Scobie sitting on his Dad’s, uncle’s knee who is Lochee United legend Jimmy Rooney. Jimmy had been over on holiday from his home in Australia and was celebrating Xmas/ New Year with his family.

Jimmy had a fantastic football career having left Lochee United in 1965 to sign for Peterbourgh United where he spent two seasons before emigrating to Oz where he went on to have a fantastic career and earning 102 caps culminating in a career high by playing at the World Cup in Germany in 1974. A true Lochee United legend.

Jimmy is now in his mid 70’s and still involved in soccer as they say over there.

Come on the Chee.
