What a strange game at Thomson Park today. Lochee dominated the game especially in the first half and to be 3-0 up at halftime it looked like more goals were coming in the second period. Craig Smith gave the Chee the lead powering home a really good header of a corner kick on 16 minutes. Smith grabs his and Lochee’s second goal when the ball drops kindly for him to sweep it home giving the visiting keeper no chance on 27 minutes. Three minutes later Kev Milne knocks in number three. Halftime 3-0 which was deserved.
Second half started with McComiskie, Johnston and McConville coming on for Milne, Hay and Davie.
Lochee started where they left off taking the game to the visitors but a wee shock for the Chee on 50 minutes when Violet scored after decent work to make it 3-1
Violet then got a second when Josh Gorton came and took a cross ball but dropped it for the Violet player to hook it home. Was it a close game at that stage..no, but all credit to the Pansies, when they got their breaks they took them. Game on !
Lochee got their game going again and it was no surprise when the fourth goal went in on 67 minutes the only surprise it was defender Scotty Webster.
Lochee had a few more really good chances but the ball was not falling kindly for McComiskie and Johnston.
Right at the death Violet score their third when a huge high ball was kicked across our box and met with a good header to give Gorton no chance.
Final score 4-3 to the Chee but this was never a close game and we have only ourselves to blame for losing the goals we did.
Credit to a young and enthusiastic Violet side who never gave up and despite defending for most of the game they did themselves and club proud. They will surprise a few sides this season.
Man of the match selected by our match sponsor The Carling Group was Craig Smith
